Catalog Description: Investigates the use of digital art in various contexts including digital narrative, web publishing, Internet art, multimedia performance, animation, conceptual art, information art, sound art, language art, and network installations. Prereqs., ARTS 2126 and 4316/5316 or instructor consent. Same as ARTS 5176. Formerly FINE 4176.
Goals:
- To explore new conceptual landscape, and new approaches to technology as pertains to the medium of the Digital.
- To extend the understanding of the digital medium as pertains to Arts practice.
- To continue to develop a personal aesthetic in the digital medium.
Objectives:
- To futher develop the artist’s approach to problems of creating computer-based or computer-enhanced work.
- To develop an understanding of art as relates to space and human interaction and perception, and art as concept
- to explore and begin to devlop wholly new approaches to Digital Arts praxis
