Project 3
In this project you will build and interface for an educational museum kiosk.
A kiosk is an exhibit-specific educational tool that is used to supply the user with additional information about the exhibit. In this assignment, kiosk will be used loosely. Consider elements that may be projected on the wall, the use of audio, the use of light, and ways that the instructional content might interact with the exhibit content. You will need to create a user profile for the exhibit that clearly delineates a set of goals for the user when interacting with the piece being examined.
Other information that should be found in your user profile includes:
- Demographic information: Any of the following if appropriate. Age, gender, education level, and any other relevant information of this vein.
- Psychographic information: Interests, state of mind, etc….
- Limiting abilities : Any abilities or challenges – physical or mental -that could hinder the users ability to interact with the piece being critiqued.
If your user group spans a large sample of age or abilties, then your interface should be designed to adapt to these differences. Your ability to conceptualize interface ideas as well as your ability to structure and organize the interface elements will be evaluated. Please concentrate upon creating a user experience that meets the needs and goals of your target audience.
Requirements:
- A written document will accompany the piece. It will include the user profile (detailed above) as well as a written description of the museum and exhibit. This should cover the nature and scope of the exhibit as well as its role within the museum as a whole. Placement of the kiosk should be addressed, along with a description of the surrounding area and exhibit elements. (500 words min.) It will extremely helpful to write this document before starting your project.
- Each interface will consist of seven nodes.
- You will need to create a structural flowchart for the interface.
- Each interface should be made into a swf for its final form. You will turn in the .swf, the .fla file and any linked files used in the interfaces as well as your User profile/use case scenario (saved as an HTML page).
